Describir a Magtutudlo Ramon Rubia en pocas palabras es una tarea muy parecida a cómo él mismo define su Eskrima (EskrimaCombativesFMA): “simple pero no fácil”. Sin duda podría rubricar una lista de cualidades que ejemplificarían todo lo que un maestro debe ser.
Lo que destacaría, por encima de todo (y es mucho), es el compromiso que hace ya muchos años tomó con el arte de sus ancestros, un legado inquebrantable que se refleja fielmente en su forma de entender, transmitir y practicar su Eskrima #Arnis.
La Eskrima es ciencia, es movimiento, es estudio y práctica. Cuando lo ves con un arma en las manos lo entiendes, cuando explica conceptos lo sientes y cuando habla sobre Eskrima es tan vasto su conocimiento (aplicado) y la pasión que lo mueve que no queda más que olvidar todo lo anterior y empezar de cero una vez más.

Un MAESTRO en mayúsculas.
Le sigo desde hace mucho por todo lo que sabe y por su calidad como ser humano. Cada vez que lo veo (no tanto como yo quisiera), técnicamente es mucho mejor que la vez anterior, esto me inspira y me empuja a continuar creciendo.
Eskrima es es un camino vivo que nunca cesa y él es un ejemplo de ello. Conversar con él es volver a las raíces, entender que aun queda todo por descubrir y caminar una vez más por terrenos que antes nunca imaginaste.
Su saber es extenso, se bifurca y vuelve a sí en formas en principios complejas, pero que se muestran simples desde el movimiento que él como pocos te muestra bien con Espada y Daga, bien en distancia larga con sus desplazamientos, bien en distancia corta con sus conceptos de uso de la mano izquierda… fue él y no otro el que un día me dijo: «José un buen Eskrimador se mide por su destreza usando la mano no armada» y todo cambió.
GM Ramon Rubia es quizás una de las personas más inteligentes que conozco. Uno de los mejores Eskrimadores con el que jamás he cruzado armas. Ser como es, honrado y comprometido con el arte a niveles extremos, le ocasiona no pocas dificultades, pero como él mismo sabe, los aviones levantan el vuelo con el viento en contra.

Describing Magtutudlo Ramon Rubia in few words is a task very similar to how he defines his Eskrima: «simple but not easy». I could certainly write a big list of qualities that would exemplify everything a Master should be. What stands out, above all, is the commitment he made many years ago with the art of his ancestors, an unshakable legacy that is faithfully reflected in his way of understanding, transmitting and practicing his Eskrima.
The Eskrima is science, movement, study and practice. When you see him with a weapon in the hands you understand it, when he explain some concepts you feel it and when he talk about Eskrima, his knowledge (applied) and the passion that moves it is so big that you just have to forget all of the above and start from nothing one more time.
He is a MASTER in capital letters. I follow him (many years already) for everything he knows and over all for his quality as a human being. Every time I see him (not as much as I want it), technically he is much better than the previous time, this inspires me and pushes me to continue growing. Eskrima is a living path that never ceases and he is an example of it.
Eskrima is a living road that never ceases and he is an example of it. To talk with him is to return to the roots, to understand that everything remains to be discovered and to walk once more on land that you never imagined before. His knowledge is extensive, bifurcates and comes back to him in forms in complex principles, but that are shown simple from the movement that he as few shows you well with Sword and Dagger, in long distance with its displacements, or in short distance with His concepts of use of the left hand … it was he and not another who one day told me: «Jose a good Eskrimador is measured by his skill using the unarmed hand» and everything changed.
GM Ramon Rubia is perhaps one of the smartest people I know. One of the best #Eskrimador I’ve ever crossed arms with. Being as he is, honored and committed to the Art at extreme levels, causes him not a few difficulties, but as he himself knows, airplanes take flight with the wind against.
